The microwaveable heat pad is made from very strong fabric and filled with some foodstuff like dried wheat, rice or barley and is just heated up in the microwave before use.....

There are many people who by now are quite familiar with how much help a heat pad can do to treat their bodies’ aches and pains or simply for some relaxation after a day’s work in the office. Essentially there are 2 most popular types of heating pads: 1. Electric heating pad, 2. Microwaveable heat pad.

1. Electric Heat Pads

Electric heat pads are perhaps the most common and popular between the two types that customers can easily purchase at any pharmaceutical stores in their local country. These pads are made from good and flexible material and contain a heating element. It is powered by your home electricity and when the switch is turned on, the heating pad becomes warm. Because of the heat generated, it quickly improves the blood circulation when it is applied on the affected body areas. The heat pad allows you to select the preferred temperature that you are most comfortable with as it has a thermostat to control it.

2. Microwaveable Heat Pad

The microwaveable heat pad on the other hand, is made from very strong fabric and filled with produce like dried wheat, rice or barley and is just heated up in the microwave before use. Because of its simplicity, many people prefer to make their own heat pad if they know how to do some simple sewing using a good piece of cloth. To heat up the heat pad, put it in your microwave oven at the maximum temperature for about 3 minutes while checking regularly to ensure that the heating pad does not burn and catch fire inside your microwave.

If you are planning to make your own shoulder heating pad (or some people commonly called it “heat-bag”) you can get a little creative to make it look nice. When you are heating up for the first time, there might be some trial and error in terms of how long you should heat the bag up. But depending on your usage frequency, you may have to change the contents inside the bag after some time because some of the fillings can get over-baked after some time. If you are not fuzzy about how it looks like, a small pillow case can also serve as your microwaveable heat pad and just use rice for filling it which is the easiest to replace with.
